In the past my experiences with encrypted flash drives have been negative. I think your best bet is that if you want to share the flash drive but not all data on it, use some sort of file encryption. You could use 7-Zip, it uses a proprietary 7z format and uses AES-256 standard encryption, the entire program is 100% free. Only thing is now, people can still delete your encrypted files, but they can never access them if they don't have the password, and if the password is extremely strong they won't be breaking the AES-256 encryption any time within the next few centuries.
